Juayua / Apaneca
Yesterday was super fun! I started the day with breakfast at Doña Goya - I literally came in and asked if they were open for breakfast and the woman said yes, told me to sit down, and brought me a plate of food almost immediately. It was delicious, and only $3.50!
I walked towards the town central square and bought an horchata to accompany my people watching at the fountain. I walked through a small artisan market and visited the main cathedral too.
After coming back to the hostel for a nap (and being woken up by a 5 minute thunderstorm) I grabbed crepes for lunch before heading to another nearby town, which is also on La Ruta de Flores – Apaneca – with Alex.
We wandered for a bit in the small town before going to Albania, an amusement tourist area that has a famous rainbow slide, Tarzan swing, zip lines, and most famously a Labyrinth. We did manage to get to the center of it and back out, though they built it into a hill so it was quite the workout!
After we came back to Juayua I joined everyone in the hostel for some late night fun at one of the hostel owner’s friend’s cafe, and later at the only spot in town to go dancing. We had a blast and my legs are sore!
Only a few more days here. Clearly not enough time, hopefully I’ll get to come back soon.
